My Radio is getting Power but “No Sound is Coming Out” of the Speakers” This is one of the more common troubleshooting issues we get in tech support. There are a couple of things to check in order to diagnose whether it is a problem with the radio or a problem with the wiring.
- Check the wire connections at the speakers. Make sure that both of the wires are securely connected to each speaker terminal. Also check that the positive wire is attached to the positive terminal and the negative wire is attached to the negative terminal.
- Check the wire connections at the stereo. Make sure that both of the wires are securely connected to each speaker terminal. Again, check that the positive wire is attached to the positive output wire and the negative wire is attached to the negative output wire.
- If you have no sound, SLOWLY turn the volume up all the way.
**WARNING** Turning the sound up too quickly can blow your speakers. Make sure to turn the volume up slowly.
- Double check the fader settings on the radio. Set the balance (Left - Right) to the center. If you only have front speakers, make sure the fader is set all the way to the front. If you only have rear speakers, make sure the fader is set all the way to the rear.
- If your speakers are in the rear and you have the fader set all the way to the rear, set the fader all the way to the front to make sure that you did not accidentally wire the rear speakers to the front output channels. Vice versa, if you only have front speakers. If this does not solve the problem, move the fader back to center.
- Make sure that you have both the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals properly connected to both the speaker and the radio. Our radios will not work with common ground speakers, where the negative wire goes to the vehicle chassis instead of to the negative wire on the radio output.
- Check your speaker impedance. Our radios are designed to work on 4 ohms, stereo. If you have any original 8 or 10 ohm speaker, you are cutting the radios output in half.
- Disconnect the speaker wires that are connected to the speaker wire harness at the radio. Use a Double A (AA) battery and touch one of the speaker wire leads to the positive (+) and one of the speaker wire leads to the negative (-) side. You should hear a small “Pop” sound from the speaker cone. If you do not hear this pop, it means that there is a short in the wiring, that you have lost continuity somewhere between the speaker wire at the radio, and the speaker wire itself or that possibly, the speaker is blown.
